Welcome to the Old Portmuthian Club. The OP Club's principal activity is facilitating contacts between former pupils of The Portsmouth Grammar School. The Club also publishes magazines and newsletters, organises social events in Portsmouth and elsewhere, and provides financial support to current and former pupils of PGS via the OP Charity.

The OP Club website has been designed in line with modern Internet technologies (XHTML, CSS, DOM) but your browser does not appear to properly support some of the required features.

So that you are not at a disadvantage, you will still see all of the information content but in a less organised form. However, you will have a better browsing experience if you upgrade to a modern browser.

About the London Society of Old Portmuthians

The LSOP has been in existence for over 50 years, throughout which time it has maintained a programme of monthly meetings. These are typically addressed by a speaker - either a guest or a member of the Society.

On the last Friday of November an Annual Dinner is held, at which members' partners are welcome. The Dinner is also always attended by some members of the Common Room. Dress for the event is lounge suits for men rather than black tie.

The LSOP is open to those of all ages and both sexes, and any OP who lives or works in or near London is very welcome to come along.

Where to find us

The meetings (and the Dinner) are held at the Farmers' Club, which is on the first floor of 3 Whitehall Court, SW1, just a two minute walk from Embankment underground station.

We gather in the Bar from about 1830 before moving into one of the meeting rooms at around 1900. (There is a notice board next to the Reception desk which will say where the LSOP meeting is: it is usually in the Forty Room, which is also on the first floor).

After the meeting, at about 2030, a number of members usually stay at the Club for a meal with the speaker, the approximate cost of which is £17 - £20.

Invitation

Scores of OPs live or work in London. If you are one of them, come along to the Farmers' Club on any of the days shown on our "fixture list"; the monthly meetings are always on the second Monday. You may want to see if any of your contemporaries are there, or to get to know other OPs who may be in the same profession as you, or just to make new friends. Whatever your motivation, give it a try, and you will receive a warm welcome.
