Welcome to the Old Portmuthian Club. The OP Club's principal activity is facilitating contacts between former pupils of The Portsmouth Grammar School. The Club also publishes magazines and newsletters, organises social events in Portsmouth and elsewhere, and provides financial support to current and former pupils of PGS via the OP Charity.

The OP Club website has been designed in line with modern Internet technologies (XHTML, CSS, DOM) but your browser does not appear to properly support some of the required features.

So that you are not at a disadvantage, you will still see all of the information content but in a less organised form. However, you will have a better browsing experience if you upgrade to a modern browser.

AGM 2010

The AGM of the Old Portmuthian Club will be held in the Willis Room, commencing at 2000 on Friday 19 February 2010. It will be preceded by a Drinks Reception from 1930. The meeting will be followed by a Finger Buffet Supper (for which there will be no charge). Only members of the Club may play an active part in the AGM but anyone interested will be very welcome, both at the meeting and particularly at the social gathering, which follows at approximately 2100.

Two small changes to the Club Rules are proposed in Item 8. The Committee feel that it is no longer appropriate to restrict honorary membership of the Club to past and present members of the teaching staff. Also, the publication by the School Development Office of a magazine, Opus, providing news of both the School and former pupils, makes the post of Magazine Editor superfluous.

Climbing Wall

This will be built in the School Sports Hall and be a suitable memorial to Roger's over 50 years dedication to PGS and the OP Club. It will be used by pupils of all ages. Several OPs have already made generous contributions towards the cost of constructing the wall. If you have not yet done so and have fond memories of Roger, as a teacher or through the CCF, Ten Tors expeditions, Fell and Bottle trips or Newtown camps, and his contribution to your education, please consider doing so. Contributions can be made by sending a cheque, made payable to the "Old Portmuthian Charity", to Barry Easton, 7 Spindrift Mews, Bosham, West Sussex, PO18 8LW (if you are a UK taxpayer, please include a Gift Aid form, one of which was sent to you with the original appeal letter or can be obtained from Barry Easton). Or you could log on to the Just Giving web site at www.justgiving.com/oldportmuthian and donate on line. All contributions will be gratefully received. Thank you.

News of Old Portmuthians

We are always delighted to receive news from OPs. Please regularly update us with news of your career, family and interests. In future we shall include news of OPs in the new magazine, Opus, published each spring and autumn by the School Development Office. Also, please ensure that you inform us when you change either your postal address or your e-mail address. All the above can be done using the relevant form on the club site or either of the e-mail addresses below.

Future Mailings

The cost of posting letters to all club members is now prohibitive. If you are on e-mail, but have not told us your address, please send it to us (l.preece@pgs.org.uk or m.e.shepherd@talktalk.net or contact us). Please note that in future all club members for whom we have an e-mail address will receive all short routine communications by this method.
