Welcome to the Old Portmuthian Club. The OP Club's principal activity is facilitating contacts between former pupils of The Portsmouth Grammar School. The Club also publishes magazines and newsletters, organises social events in Portsmouth and elsewhere, and provides financial support to current and former pupils of PGS via the OP Charity.

Jock Clear speaks to OPs

We are delighted that Jock has agreed to spare the time in his frenetic schedule around the racetracks of the world to come down to Portsmouth to talk to OPs and their guests about his life at the very forefront of Formula One Racing.

OPs who were at school in the late seventies/early eighties will remember Jock as an inspiring captain of 1st XV rugby indeed but also as a young man absolutely fanatical about cars and automotive engineering. On graduating from Heriot Watt (whence he has since obtained a doctorate) Jock joined the Renault Formula One Racing Team and is now the Chief Engineer in the Honda camp.

The evening will commence with a Drinks Reception in the foyer to the David Bawtree Building and at 8.00 p.m. Jock will speak and give us insight into this glamorous world where for twenty years now he has moved with the Schumachers, Villeneuves, Ecclestones etc.

We anticipate huge interest from OPs, which may entail a change of auditorium, and it is essential for us to know in advance the precise number of those attending. OPs are asked therefore to contact Gareth Perry with the number (friends most welcome) in his/her party by Wednesday February 6th.
